i love sit at atc to watch how they work..
plus,i can improve my rt by watching n listening communication between atc n pic..thank God,it really help..my rt improve a lot..
very good to be friend with them..they r very friendly.they will help us whatever we dont understand abt communication,n they will help us during our flight..
whenever i fly,1 of the controller will called my name..when im back from long holiday this past few days,they asking me why its been a long time im not lepak with them..
anyway,i respect their job.when i sit beside them,i will feel the stress because of the workload..especially during lots of aircraft flying..

working posn will depend on your grade:

ex : Grade A41 ( degree intake) :they will be trained to be sector controller (doing Radar control and see blip only) and will be sitting in front of radar display instead of working on tower. if ur apply for this grade... this will ur working environment and will be stationed at 3 particular places you mentioned before.

Grade A29 : they will be trained to be Aerodrome controller (working at control tower).
If u applied for this grade, u will attach at various control tower in malaysia.

I applying for A41 post. that means I only can work at this 3 particular area only..
nevermind laa.. sabah or serawak also okay for me, at least I can know the new culture..

a41 will only involve in radar control right? is there any chance they are require to do procedural too?

ABSOLUTELY!....
U will have comprehensive training to obtain area procedure rating first at DCA college. later u have to go for Field training at those 3 station to obtain ur area radar rating.

as area procdure controler.. u will assist radar controller in doing traffic.
but for radar controller... they will have all the fun.

as you mentioned before. Grade A41 ATC will only involve in radar control in 3 places which is KLIA, Sarawak and Sabah...
How about Senai Airport? Senai Airport has radar also right?

"Learn from mistake" is totally not suitable for a pilot. You might be don't have chance to fly again after you did a mistake. You can only learn from people's mistake.

if I not mistaken, Kota Bharu airport also got radar.

still remember during intvw with spa n dca guy, they asked me what is difference between Kota Bharu airport and Melaka airport.. I said donno, and asked back the for answer. and he said kota bharu got radar that can cover up to Myammar.

i heard the same thing from a friend.. what differ atcs working in radar control and atc in air defense? i also heard they are sharing radars in some sector/area.

to answer all the question. I'll brief all the differences as simple as i can.

for aerodrome (CTR) confined with TMA (terminal area), the airfield will have approach radar service.
johor got it's own TMA. that y their got their approach radar service. Subang, kelantan, P.pinang.t'ganu and most of Int. airport are CTR confined With TMA airspace.
Unlike approach procedure service, approach radar service can vector or applying speed restriction to Aircraft.

Here in melaka, we dont have any radar. so we can't practice approach radar obviously.
But even if we got radar in here we just can't do it. BECAUSE.
1. we are CTR not TMA
2. No controller in here Rated as Approach radar controller

If we have radar. we still practice aerodrome proc. control. but we will make benefit of radar to monitor tfc.

1. Can anyone choose which state to work after passing as ATC?
2. What steps required to upgrade From A29 to A41 and A44? Is it difficult or impossible?
