MIAT vs MATA

1. My son attended an IQ test and interview with MIAT today for diploma in aircraft maintenance. They have a normal diploma courses and also sitting for licence in stages. After diploma, they can continue the degree also at MIAT. I also found out that student with Matriculation cert qualify to apply for degree in aircraft maintenance. I think it is a cost saving as matric is sponsored by the government, then parents only need to prepare for the degree fee! I have two more in college now.

2. My son also is going to attend another interview with MATA end of the month. When I checked the website, look likes MATA does not offer diploma or degree but purely preparing for the licence.

I have no knowledge of the aviation industry and I think my son is even blur than I am. Need advice from expert to make better decision. He is accepted into the Matriculation as well.

Makcik,
The aviation industry at this point of time doesn't look promising.
My honest opinion, it is BLEAK.
Let your son go to Matriculation.
Aviation is just glamour.. even that now has somewhat diminished.

Dear hafizakamal ,
UNIKL MIAT is not guiding you to become a licensed aircraft engineer. You really have to put your own efforts to get your license. UNIKL is just like other higher instituition for you to further your study in any branch of studies. If you take a diploma in aircraft maintenance engineering you may have a steep chance to get a job in aviation industry. Currently, please bare in mind that aviation industry as what Mr Torx has mentioned is BLEAK. The salary for a dip holder in aircraft engineering is about 1k-2k it depends on the company anyway.

Better is subjective and what do you mean with 'better school'?
The future is unknown and kinda bleak as far as I am concerned, esp. in the aviation industry.
If you want my advice, stay away from aviation.
But having an AMEL is much much better than a diploma.
Call what ever diploma you want, it is practically useless.

There is NO Aircraft Engineer with a Diploma.
Only Licence!
You can be a technical support engineer is you have a degree... even that is limited in demand.
