there are company policies stated that only authorized personnel like DCA officer or Company staff allowed to sit in the jumpseat.

Company staff mostly because they bought staff travel tickets during peak time (raya , cny etc.) aircraft full load and end up requesting for jump seat. authority lies on the Captain's discretion.

DCA officer mostly on a check ride.

Most of these ppl have a common thing in hand, a MAB Airport Pass, which requires your background record to be checked by Bukit Aman prior approving the pass application.

Normal passengers dont have that , thus security issue arises.

For aircraft having 2 or more jump seat, only one can be occupied by non-flight crew at one time.

Sitting on pilots' seat by non-operating crew (including cabin crew) is forbidden at all time.

of course, many people tried their luck and still got the seat. if the captain allows it, why not ?

It's at the discretion of the Commander I think, and of course there are safety/emergency issues that is beyond the normal pax capabilities.

Sat in the jumpseat twice, once in a MAS 747 and once in a Firefly Fokker 50.
